Full of Festive Cheer! De Vere Wokefield Estate hosts Christmas lunch with a difference

The teams from De Vere Wokefield Estate in Reading have been getting into the Christmas spirit this week by hosting its annual Christmas lunch in partnership with the Mortimer Village Partnership, which saw more than 30 local OAPs treated to a festive turkey lunch as well as musical entertainment and a visit by the main man himself; Santa Claus.

Winter, and in particular Christmas, can be a sad and lonely time for older people who live alone or who aren’t as mobile as they once were.  And it’s for these reasons why De Vere Wokefield Estate hosts this heart-warming event year after year.

Lisa Sykes, PA to the Venue Director from De Vere Wokefield Estate said: “This event is a highlight of our calendar here at the hotel as well as the older people living in Mortimer too.  It’s such a great day and the atmosphere is full of happiness and cheer.  Our guests love getting their glad rags on and heading over to be completely spoilt by our team; and our team love doing it.”

BMW, which has a training academy within the grounds of De Vere Wokefield Estate also support this annual event by supplying lavish BMW cars to collect and drop off the Mortimer residents. 

Lisa adds: “We have been hosting this event for ten years now. We have a great relationship with Mortimer Village Partnership, which sees De Vere Wokefield Estate host events like this and make donations to other events and initiatives taking place in the village. We’d like to thank BMW for its continued support, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
