Paws for Thought: Inspiring The Next Generation of Vets

To celebrate the opening of their new state-of-the-art veterinary practice, Vet’s Klinic in Reading is hoping to inspire the next generation of budding veterinary surgeons and nurses.

According to the British Veterinary Association, 46% of vets decided they wanted to pursue this career at primary school and 65% knew before they were 13 years old. Vet’s Klinic is keen to engage with these enthusiastic young vets of the future.

As part of the Klinic’s public launch day on 4th February between 10:00-14:00, families and their children are invited to bring along a favourite cuddly toy pet and take part in Vet’s Klinic’s “Pet School.” On the day, they will have guided tours of the new practice and the opportunity to meet the vets and nurses and ask them questions about their jobs. There will also be a chance to learn about caring for their toy pet including how to bandage minor cuts and scrapes and they will leave with a Vet’s Klinic certificate.

Stephanie Catt, Head Veterinary Nurse at Vet’s Klinic, believes nobody is too young to start learning about a career with animals. She says, “I knew I wanted to be a veterinary nurse from a very young age and that desire never changed. Working at a veterinary practice is challenging but also very rewarding so this is a great opportunity to show the younger generation what it’s really like day-to-day and their new-found skills may come in handy one day!”

Laura Shears, Managing Director at Vet’s Klinic adds, “Vet’s Klinic’s philosophy is driven by a passion to deliver gold standard care not only for pets but also for pet owners by offering state-of-the-art care at affordable prices – all with the goal of helping more pets enjoy long-term health and happiness.”

Vet’s Klinic opened the largest, single-site first opinion veterinary practice in Swindon in 2012 and now this revolutionary world of pet care is extending its reach with a new clinic opening in Woodley, Reading. From the glass-fronted prep room where owners can watch the veterinary staff caring for their pets, to the interactive website system that enables owners to view their pet’s medical records online and even book and pay for appointments, Vet’s Klinic is an entirely new kind of veterinary experience that puts pets and their owners at the heart of the practice.

The first 50 visitors through the doors at Vet’s Klinic’s Open Day will receive a pet-friendly goodie bag and those who join Vet’s Klinic’s Healthcare Plan on the day get one month free. The first 100 clients registering at the Reading practice qualify for a cat or dog booster vaccination for just £10 (usually £36).
